Beautifully presented first-time vinyl collection of 80s period Moniek Darge, a Belgian sound-artist mostly known for her connection to the Logos collective. Consistent with the radical nature of the European tradition, Darge favours a hardcore anti-formalism, and across these four tracks (recorded over a seven year period), she challenges the listener repeatedly with her own distinct form of abstract minimalism composed from violin, various hard-to-define electronics and vocal samples. Reference to Logos output provides most of the context you need, though you could also look to the iconoclastic work of Cornelius Cardew (Stockhausen serves imperialism, indeed!). Different timelines & contexts noted, but worth investigating if you enjoyed the recent AMM reissue. As much as we loved the autodidactic DIY mash of the Mudguards record Horn of Plenty put out a while back, i didn't expect this to be coming out of the same house. An archival project both challenging and necessary. And yes, it does appear as if she plays the violin with a dildo.
