Inner World 029 - Horn of Plenty: All I Remember Is Falling
World of Echo, 2023
Edition of 75
The lifecycle of London label Horn of Plenty seems to have almost run in tandem with that of our own, the last four+ years reliably soundtracked by their varied and searching reaches into the world underground. Fitting, then, that on the occasion of the release of two new records this week (Nein Rodere's doleful Form & Feeling and Annelies Monsere's hypnotic Mares) we are able to introduce this 100 minute mixtape pieced together by label founder, Nick Hamilton. Hamilton has history as an educator, and i often feels there's a pedagogical quality to his many musical presentations, songs and sounds that stretch beyond the obvious, that test, explore and inspire, shifting the headspace a little, hinting at new possibles, even if just by showing you what you didn't know was already there. All I Remember Is Falling fits that brief perfectly, while also telling us a little about the label's roots and current motivations, deep-cuts from the HoP catalogue alongside similarly minded outliers and experimentalists. What Hamilton understands as music that favours 'pure expression'. Edition of 75, with risograph sleeves. Artwork by Matthew Walkerdine and printed by Good Press. No digital.
"If Nick Hamilton was (still) Cosmo Vittelli, the Crazy Horse West would be in a small Islington square and this tape would be the soundtrack to its victorious demise. The stage full of misfits & dreamers having the time of their lives as their world collapses around them." - Horn of Plenty
