Another slice of proto-ambient fare, though approaching the genre from an entirely different angle. Given it was originally released in 1975 and pre-dates the genesis of the term, this is ambient free of the lofty conceptual shibboleths that have come to define the genre - i think we're some ways removed from Music for Airports and Kankyo Ongaku. This is ambient as found sound, a kind of audio verite of suburban life. Sonically it calls to mind some of Mort Garson's work in the chirruping synths and whirling zither, though there's also a casual cosmic jazz dimension at play, reminding me of Pharoah Sanders godly Harvest Time, which actually came after this (ALSO - SOMEONE REISSUE THAT NOW!). Been loving this this morning. Salve for the hungover soul.
