Texas never whispers! Blue Dolphin were a shortlived something-piece punk act outta Austin and Houston sometime around 2016, sporting members from other bands you might actually have heard of should you live outside of the in-the-know coteries of the lone star state - Mystic Inane, Chronophage, the greatgreatgreat CCTV++ Blue Dolphins sound very close to what it might mean to be a compression of all those things, ansty and angular wired cowpunk rattle and thrum with a heavy penchant for discordance. It's a little breathless and super sharpwitted, and mired in no little brown noise, all the better for all those things. Real thrilling living with the day right at the front of your face kinda stuff, with zero regard for the shitkickers who turned a billion steers into buildings made of mirrors. Reminds me also of a slightly wilder Vivienne Styg, another Houston act who seemed to burn faster than they did long. I'd say they don't make 'em like this anymore but i'd be wrong. This is Texas after all. You don't mess with it for good reason when they get it this right this often.
