Bathouse - s/t

Debut LP of nocturnal garage emissions from a Swedish trio who remarkably suggest absolutely no sonic connection with the current Gothenburg activity of which i'm so enamoured. Released by Happiest Place, the label also responsible for that great Levande Dod record last year, Bathouse instead drink heavily from the Birthday Party's Baccanalian cup and have probably sat through repeated viewings of The Year That Punk Broke. There's a big 80s New York feel ala Chrome Cranks & Pussy Galore, and heading a little further north, that same on a knife edge desperation of John Brannon's Laughing Hyenas. And yes, i do realise i've just made comparison to three All-Timers. Perhaps there's a touch of hyperbole in the mix, but this is the kind of bold, thrilling and not a little reckless noisemaking that deserves extra encouragement. And top marks for the name, too. Edition of 250.
