Haunted Plaça music if i ever heard it (and i don't think i had until now). Originally released in 2007 on CD only, Vrystaete bring Demian Recio's post-industrial, neo-folk odd-world musings to vinyl for the first time. Quite a bit of this kind of mutated trad. European folk business going round of late, namely with that Karl Lindh reissue, some of the Ultra Excema stable and, of course, the never-ending inspiration of Brannten Schnure. Recio's vocal is pushed a little more to the front than on the aforementioned, and definitely makes its nods to David Tibet-like melodrama, and weirdly the Blue Nile's Paul Buchanan, and with it builds a deep sense of emotional unrest. It's given a distinct Otherness, for me at least, because it's in Spanish and I can't fathom a word, though Google Translate tells me I love that title - 'When Time Blows' is a cracking name for this kind of fair, aged and aging, rooted in history, slipping away but holding on, conuring a world where everything is still made of wood. Love it. Only 150 copies, with three different sleeves.
