Best of Year 2019 - transparent teal vinyl
Music that'll turn you inside out. Music itself that's turned inside out, an inverted rock nexus. You've heard elements of this before in This Heat, Suicide, all that 90s anti-rockism (Windy and Carl, Labradford, US Maple) and No Wave's dissolution of form, even Albini, but there's something very singular and specific about Mosquitoes that stands apart. This is music that's unafraid to be tough, to demand something of the listener and to not ask permission. You've got to be very clear of mind to make sounds as obtusely exact like this yet retain a lizard like appeal. It's a blessing that a band like this exist in London right now. Hold them close for you might only get this chance. Certainly not something that comes around often (we're lucky to have this repress, too). V. limited as to be expected.
