Finally a physical version of Lolina's bold as brass head scrambler from last year. As with all of Alina Astrova's work under the Lolina moniker, this is some ways removed from her earlier collaborative work in Hype Williams, ironically considerably more hyper, busier, agitated. Opener Let Go bears a resemblance to Because I'm Worth It, hypnotic in its atonal drone, anchored by Astrova's irregular incantations. It's the longest track on the record by some margin, its hypnotic qualities supplanted over the remaining tracks by an insect like frenzy, as if someone's pulling a crossfade back and forth over an ant colony. It's a wild, disorientating experience, and Lolina has probably answered her own question on this one. I guess this is experimental music. And if it's not, then just enjoy it for the sensory overload it is. As per usual this is gonna be v. limited.
