Double LP
Finally we've a vinyl edition of the fourth Heavy Metal collection, first released to tape back in 2019. Why it's taken so long to hit this format can likely be attributed to all the usual demonic forces (pandemics, supply chain crises, lassitude et al), but be assured that time hasn't dimmed the frenzied impact of the Heavy Metal experience one bit. Their particular kind of scatalogical, piss-take punk abrasion arguably reaches its zenith on these 24 - yes 24! - tracks, a brain-dump of blown-out missives that hit a nastily stained sweetspot between the dub-wise post-punk of something like PIL or Flying Lizards, the hysterical aggro of Arab on Radar (minus the time signature nausea), a little Thee Oh Sees ramalama, and some art-blasted NY No Wave antithetical-isms. And that's before you get to the song titles, which read like a road map for a very 21st Century configuration of various mental health disorders, all absurdist fantasy and mental atrophy. Get down with the sickness.
