This was meant to happen last month, but didn't because of some manufacturing issues. So here we are again, getting it right second time around... Coinciding with the second Record Store Day of 2021, and in a brazen attempt to shift the day a little more meaningfully in the direction of World of Echo, we asked JD Twitch of Optimo to contribute a cassette-only mix to our Inner World series. Though it's certainly not free of its criticisms, at its heart the impetus behind RSD is to celebrate and support independent record shop culture, and who better than to reflect that than JD Twitch, one half of duo Optimo, who have collectively spent decades trawling the margins in order to shed light on the obscure and the unusual, to bring attention to the otherwise hidden. I'd Rather Not (If You Don't Mind) is an hour long collection of what JD Twitch describes as 'represent [ing] my tastes right now', which amounts to a kaleidoscopic spin through various back roads of jazz, folk, EBM, post-punk, noise and electronic experimentation.
