Denis Morin's Vague Imginaires turn in a beautiful debut effort for Glasgow's flawless 12th Isle, a four track EP of undulating electronics possessed of a sweetly bucolic, aqueous quality. The first three tracks drift, spiral and chirp in a vaguely fourth world Hassell/Reyes type manner, all the key ambient tropes of found sounds, environmental static, minimal dub inflections, and circadian rhythms, which work very nicely in that inner world escapist manner. Track four turns in the surprise, a ten min+ trance-y (possibly balearic!) shifter built on an idyllic bed of bird sound & running water samples, and a BPM the previous three tracks did not suggest was coming. Serene, out of body stuff, perfect for this blazing sun. Sold out at source i believe, and only a couple of copies here.
