CS + Kreme - Snoopy

Though the digital has been out a few weeks, we're only just getting the vinyl in now, due to some kind of issue with the sleeves. Crisis over. Snoopy is finally in the house. And we've been waiting a good minute for a long player from these two anyway, the series of fantastic 12"s they've issued over the last four years only making that wait seem longer. If you're not yet familiar with CS+Kreme, you might know them via their other work - Conrad Standish was in Devastations, Sam Karmel in F Ingers. It's the latter's former band that might provide the best point of reference. CS+Kreme specialise in the kind of late night, downtempo electronic explorations that display an affection for both the dark and the comic. Serious sounding business with a sense of humour. The album is called Snoopy after all. And the opening lyric is, i think, 'where did blueberries go?' (and if it's not, it really does sound like it). It's hard to parse what exactly is being communicated here, which is part of the point I'm sure. Crucially, the do it with a devlish glint in their eye - you don't call songs 'The Whale Tail' and 'Time is A Bozo' if you're not at least a little smitten with the art of pisstaking. There's obviously a huge affinitity with HTRK, even channeling the same sex death ambience on 'Slug'. A future classic for the smartly cynical/cynically smart out there. Not many of these around (and we've already sold a load already), so be quick if you're keen.
