Young Druid - s/t

First time vinyl pressing of John T. Gast's Young Druid alias, originally released as a one-and-gone CD-r in 2017. 12 mostly short form MIDI-eval experiments that find Gast at his playful best, cheekily dancing around eski primitivism, skeletal baroque dub, mutant two step and a little new age absurdity. It's all rendered in a light green fog so as to suggest some real bedroom mysticism at play. If dubstep had kept a smile on its face perhaps it might have ended up here and not crooning for a living for the Mercury Music Prize panel? Whatever, six years down the line Gast is sounding as fresh and spirited as ever, and from an artist that's been a bit quieter of late after first emerging in a blaze of activity, a due reminder of his singular talents. More Druid and more Gast required, but this'll fill any kind of gap for now.
