A seemingly spontaneous new EP from Permanent Draft that brings together label founders Valentina Magaletti and Fanny Chiarello in a dream-like collage of fragmented polyglot sound. Across seven miniatures, the pair traverse some ground, uniting abstracted spoken word, submerged field recordings, alien electronics, minimal piano and Magaletti's signature polyrhythms. The short run time betrays the range of ideas on show, and you could easily make the case for any one of these tracks to be doubled in length, such is the restless, explorative spirit that underpins the entire affair. Let's call it maximalism in miniature, a brain dump of ideas barely around long enough to fully process, where somewhat ironically it's the choices they didn't make that leave you wondering. In the age of excess, there's something to be said for the short form impulse. Still, knowing the history of its creators, it's hard to imagine them stopping here. Watch this space...
