Some four months later, that same EP now appears on vinyl for the more dancefloor-inclined Felt Sense imprint. Mcfarlane is a stalwart of the Australian indie underground, but the shift in context makes sense for these latest inventions, experimenting with ambient electronics, minimal wave elan and DIY indiepop charm in ways that might just represent her best yet. It's an immaculately conceived concept front to back, but the standout moment is for sure the title track that closes out the second side, a kitchen (or is that bathroom?) sink lullaby of sing-song vocals and bubbling electronics that imagines the bucolic vistas of Virginia Astley as homespun electronica, replete with a surrealist domestic poetry. This is beautiful, reverie-inducing material, conceiving of its own small world of off-kilter observation and midday dérive that commands full immersion.
