The ever-shifting TRjj return under a new mysterious moniker (or is that with a new 'member') with the maiden outing for Iriai Verlag, an imprint run by Sebastian Von der Heide, who you might recognise by the name Hipolito, a TRjj collaborator on last year's beauteous Circular & Timer 7". Pfffff, that's a winding sentence. Well it's what music such as this commands. While the presentation of TRjj (or TRii, TRj, Trii Group etc etc) changes from release to release, there's a compelling consistency to aesthetic that seems to gain in intrigue and resonance with each new transmission. Sound, tone, texture, whatever it is that defines the TRjj approach is once again rich here, an array of quixotic electronics (quixotronics?), monotone vocals, non-linear structures (quite something when you're working with ostensibly rigid machinery) and dreamy ambiance. There's a fair few outliers in the contemporary European underground taking cues from the TRjj approach (the KRAAK label, Goldblum, PAL etc), but i'd say the most clear kinship is with Spillage Fete and the Bons crew, an absurdist DIY pop vision smashed to pieces and mosaic-ed back to life in strange technicolour.
