*ABSOLUTE CLASSIC MASTERPIECE KLAXON* Originally released back in 2008 in a cruelly pitiful edition of 300, Mark Fell and Mat Steel's micro-detailed hyrbidised journey through minimal techno, glitch, footwork and deep house returns to wax feeling as cutting edge as ever. And cut is most certainly what it does. For a collection so sleek and minimal, there's an astonishing amount of ground covered and innovation explored, almost iconoclastic in its Robocop-to-a-knife-fight assault on convention. And the pair do it with a laser eye - precision has rarely sounded so wide open and unpredictable. Beatrice Dillon, Rian Treanor et al owe debts to this astonishing style of future FWD electronic music. Hard to process that 4,5,6 is now hitting its teenage years - there's droids being assembled tomorrow less advanced. Crisp, razor-sharp and crucially, always swerving away from 'tasteful' (the worst sin of all) conventions to move in its own alluring post-humanist shapes. You'll find no blemishes here, but watch you don't cut yourself on its edges.
