Chain Reaction and DDS alumni Shinichi Atobe proves ever restless with a second 12" for his own recently minted Plastic & Sounds imprint. Dub techno is perhaps what Atobe is known best for, though his catalogue is crammed with subtle reinventions and detours that always keep the ear firmly attuned. So it comes to pass on SynthScale, the title track an electro-indebted midnight drive into the heart of the metropolis, while 'Disappear' rolls along with deep house piano trills and vocal cut ups and mammoth closer 'Between Thoughts' is pure mutated acid flex. Flawless invention and application as always.
