The CR influence casts a long shadow today, though it's mainly marked for the long line of flawless 12"s released in those early years. To that end, Biokinetics is particularly notable for its thematic ('subaquatic') execution of that same ambient dub techno sound across a whole album, collecting together a number of songs from early singles and threading them together as a consistent, immersive whole. It's a skill Thomas Koner has repeatedly explored with his ambient work, and it's that eye for textural detail and connecting threads that passes Biokinetics into ALL TIMER territory. Easy to get lost in its dense rain of submerged beats and ambient hiss, the music defined by an amorphous, aqueous quality, like plunging into water in the middle of the floor. Undeniably essential (and check the original CD artwork, too - a design masterclass).
