The hardest working guys in showbusiness... Not a week seems to go by without a new record appearing outta the West Mineral/Experiences/Motion Ward stargate, and here we are with the latest long player from the typically cryptically named Pontiac Streator, who you may remember from the collaboration with Ulla in 2018 (i think, i lose track of time...). Music from this world seems to generally fall into two categories: broken-down, abstract electronics, or ambient squelch. It's the latter that PS embraces here (with an inevitably hint of the former), a beautifully aqueous experience that recalls the early glitch dynamics of Oval and the beatless elements of Vladislav Delay, while it would have fitted nicely on to the Mono No Aware comp that seemed to crystallize a sensibility a few years back. Mostly, though, it stands totemic of this emerging cadre of like-minded artists, especially so given Streator's penchant for collaboration - both Mister Water Wet and Ulla make guest appearances here. Intelligent, patient, elegant and emotional electronic expressionism, its seemingly effortless nature conversely revealing just how hard it is to do this kind of thing right. Alongside Tumbling Against A Wall, it might be the best thing any of this lot have done since Huerco's second. SUUUUPER limited
