Forgot to mention this a week or two back, but given the frequency with which we've played it in the shop it's deserving of its own time in the sun now. I've no idea who Peace Pipe is/are, and i'd assume that's the way they like it. That's the way these things work. They pull a similar trick of subterfuge/secrecy with the track selection on this debut mixtape, spiralling in all directions around the outerzones of obscure(/d) techno, downtempo, house and in-between sonic diversions. If you know, you know, right? There's something a little toxic in knowledge economies, so let's take it as read that the art's not in identifying the individual components but how it all fits together, and Peace Pipe have undoubtedly served us a sprawling treat that's as designed for loving as it is learning. Turn on, tune in, peace out.
