Vital document for anyone with an interest in the lesser explored corners of the first wave of Japanese post-punk. Off the back of their 2017 reissue of the band's 1982 debut, Stefan Schneider's TAL imprint have uncovered two previously unreleased NON Band tracks recorded at the same time, and coupled them with a magazine that draws on imagery from Telegraph Records boss, Yuichi Jibiki. Those kind photos are always going to be a big draw, documents, from the vantage point of 2023, look to be from a vastly different universe. The music, like the rest of the NON Band output, feels primitive and febrile, all perfectly misdirected energy that takes influence from all over (New York and Berlin most obviously - Rosa Yemen/Malaria et al) but seems to express its own distinct voice entirely. A must have for those of a certain inclination.
After the reissue edition of Non Band‘s debut album via Stefan Schneider‘s TAL imprint in 2017 the label is excited to be able to offer another key release showcasing the creative peak of Japanese Post Punk.
