The second serving from Siltbreeze this week makes a stop in Washington DC for the debut album by Nice Breeze, a good-time sounding Homestead-styled power-punk trio that have been kicking around for over a decade but seem to have found their ideal resting place at Chez Tom Lax. Hell, they even kinda share a name! If the writing was on the wall right from the off, it takes on added credence the moment you hear their earworm take on downtown New York swagger meets GBV scuzz-pop insouciance and The Clean sing-song chug. There's literally a track called 'The Power Pop Song' fer christ's sake, which is nothing if not highly instructive. These fellas are hip to the requirements that's for sure. A classic Siltbreeze group, I'd venture, which at this stage 30 years in begs the question: did they coin the aesthetic or are they just the best at holding the candle? Either way, may bands like Nice Breeze keep on blowing.
