Mordwaffe - That's Also Practise

Ah, the late great Mordwaffe. Their candle went out long before their legend ever will. A five piece from Glasgow consisting of a motley crew of legends you'll now know for their later work in Vital Idles and as Nein Rodere, Mordwaffe existed for two very brief years between 2015-2017, recording a fair bit but releasing little that travelled beyond their Lanarkshirian enclave. Well, that's on us, not them, cos they were always a dream unity of VU chug, Garbage and the Flowers mythology and very early mid 90s Drag City fall-down-the-stairs lo-fi smarts, something which these four recently unearthed phone-recordings on David Roeder's Freuyd & Verdrusz imprint reveals in all their murky un-clarity. You really come to appreciate this kind of band when they're no longer around, the kind too busied by, and wrong-shaped for, the wider world of their time, but who sound somehow perfect in their absence. The passing of time renders a misty magic. And we do love our ghosts in these haunted Isles. If you missed them first time around, fret not cos they're captured here the way they were always meant to exist.
