There's no secrets anymore, except those you don't know about... And so we have more unknown unknowns from Concentric Circles, who've uncovered this uber obscure cassette released in 1985 by Kent, Ohio's Moonlove, originally released in a micro-edition of 25 copies. Local music for local people, and yet not, really. May Never Happen speaks the universal and, as we well know, global language of morose janglepop, of Flying Nun, K Records, Creation, Sarah, Slumberland...Dunedin, Glasgow, Bristol, Melbourne, San Fran... Which of course means you can draw much of this back to the third and fourth VU albums. So far so perfect. So perfect, in fact, I'm not entirely convinced this is the first time i've heard these songs, so familiar and comforting are the traded male/female vocals and bounced key change guitars - if you told me these were lost The Cat's Miaow or The Clean demos then you'd receive no batted eyelid. Which is really saying something: i like to bat my eyelids, and have you ever tried to write songs this goooood? Moonlove slide effortlessly into that eternal lineage of the secret jangling world that seems to go on forever and of which you can never have enough. Indiepop will never die, even when, in Moonlove's case, it hardly lived in the first place. Edition of 300 (!!) w/ 12 page booklet.
