Let the hype around the new record not obscure the facts - Milan W has been actively at work in the hidden undergrowth of Europe for many years now, and there's a fair amount of past available to dig into for those with a bigger itch to scratch. To that point, here's some recently uncovered dead stock of Envelope, released five or so years ago and evidence that our man's output has been subject to a patient evolution over time. This eight track collection isn't really that much like Leave Another Day, though nor is it entirely divorced from it's dreamstate world of nocturnal dizziness. Absent is the resigned troubadour persona he's currently working away at, replaced with a foray into quixotic square-wave IDM, a lot closer to The Black Dog, To Rococo Rot, or perhaps even the more introverted outposts of the Brainfeeder universe, while still retaining an interest in the crepuscular's weird and eerie. Still, if you've come here expecting a retread of the most recent LP, you might want to tap out now. For those who appreciate the journey, you'll find evidence here of an artist unwilling to be fenced in.
