2024 edition of the second Urpa i musell release from 2018, which introduced the label on a wider scale by bringing back to light Carlos Maria Trindade & Nuno Canavarro's overlooked collaboration from 1991. Though born of the Portuguese experimental scene of the 80s (more on this soon btw), the phantasmagorical electro-acoustic textures of Mr Wollogallu feel somewhat implacable, a mesh of psychedelic fourth world bucolicism that plays like a slightly more ethereal Jon Hassell. The technology and production provides the most obvious time stamp, otherwise we're in fantasy territory, an imagined Latin interzone just above the clouds or behind the mind's eye, built from chiming synths, nylon string guitar figures, marimba, vibraphone, flute, rolling percussion, and ghostly vocal melody. Big trip for anyone who's explored the various works of Roberto Musci, Carl Stone, Jorge Reyes ++ and journeys in search of further uncanny, transportative action.
