Oakland post-punk raiders Marbled Eye go back to the start with this combination reissue of their first two EPs, from 2016 and 2017 respectively. It's a shame to not be hearing new music from the group, but it's still a pleasure to be reminded of the existence of these tracks, guided as they are by the kind of motorik post-punk chug and choogle that few others have got this right since Total Control's first LP. And is it me, or are we seeing less and less of this kind of effortlessly driving dual guitar action? Everything's got a little more... complex? Weird to think of 2016 as the distant past, but then again everything is weird now anyway. Bless Marbled Eye for keeping to the basic tenets: hit the pedal and follow the white line - 2, 4, 6, 8 AUTOBAHN.
