Another title to add to the increasingly popular plant music genre... Wait, comeback, this one's worth your time, trust. It might have borrowed Plantasia's raison d'etre, but Music for Tomato Plants is musically much more closely aligned with 80s Japan, and in particular, the Wave Notation series and Hiroshi Yoshimura's Green. Sarid presses all the right buttons, ebullient and playful synth flourishes generating a serene ambience that's got the earnestness of New Age aswell as a little cheekiness that suggests it's not taking itself too seriously, in a manner not unlike the turn of the century electronica of labels like Tomlab. There's been a lot of love for that Green-House record this year, but this is easily its equal. US import, only a handful of copies.
