What we said first time around:
Another shot fired from the Swedish underground...There's a lot of experimental, out-there noise emanating out of Gothenburg right now, but let it also be clear that a good portion of this music is waaaaaay more accessible than a lot would have you believe (unless of course i've spent far too long inside this world of echo chamber and have lost all judgment). Loopsel is Elin from Monokultur and Skiftande Enheter, two bands that have also contributed a good few records of both beautiful and melodic modern guitar music. What's going on here reminds me a great deal of early Kranky and 4AD - proto and/or post-shoegaze/dreampop noisey abstraction that never forsakes beauty for experimentalism. Someone is moving the radio dial across the outer-reaches of late 80s/early 90s underground music, stopping only to allow a series of tiny vignettes of clarity bleed in through the static. The inevitable cultural seepage of the internet age... This to me plays like a faded memory recalling of where the ends meet of Bowery Electric, Belong, Julee Cruise's The Voice of Love, Grouper, His Name is Alive, Mary Margaret O'Hara's To Cry About... and something that belongs to the here and now. 200 copies made. If all remains right in the world, these wont hang around long.
