More avant noise happenings courtesy of Tom Val's out-there Les Disques Omnison imprint, turning to the Paris-based duo of Leandro Barzabal & Céleste Gatier for what they're choosing to label "six untitled electroacoustic compositions about the ambivalency between meditating and destroying". Who am I to disagree, though 'composition' seems a bit of a stretch, these invariably blasted and torched frequencies feeling mostly improvised and spontaneous, kinda like a version of Japanese noise music passed through a Cramps Records filter (Merzbow if he made music for living animals, perhaps?): You can work out pretty easily which is the meditation and which the destruction in that arrangement. The duo never fully detonante, but there's certainly a penchant for abrasion on display that could recall anything from Wanda Group provocation to David Tudor's landmark LP, Microphone. Firmly cerebral action unafraid to challenge its audience and more of that sacred unlistenable music to help unlock a few minds. Edition of 200 in hand made sleeves, and like everything on the label, probably gone before you know what's good.
