Kyosanto - Communist

City Rockers fans take note - Bitter Lake have done more sterling work in bringing together this compilation of early-mid 80 Japanese hardcore/punk ragers Kyosanto's early cassettes. Politically-charged as the title may suggest, this is blazing, furious, ragged and inspiring in all the ways you'd hope though so rarely find. Time and context always have some roll in shaping how a band might be received, though I think Kyosanto's Japanese origin speaks more to why this is so obscure than it does of the music itself - transplant them to 80s LA, and the name would be a lot more widely known outside of Japanese hardcore circles. Which is to say hardcore is a universal language. A much needed document of something we'd have otherwise missed - much needed BECAUSE it's something we'd have otherwise missed. What all this reissue culture is meant to be about. Hats off and thanks to Bitter Lake. Sold out at source. Two copies in store.
