Jordan Deal resides in Philadelphia, but like that city's most famous Sun, the music they make would have you believe they're operational in an entirely different realm altogether. We call this world building, and Deal feels increasingly well primed for the task. The two songs comprising this lathe only add to that sense of self-determining mysticism, wordless Saturn-light sonatas, the A-side especially long, the B-side far more succinct, that bring light and shade to an artistic universe I've a feeling we'll be spending increasing time trying to bend our head around. What's being driven at here is not necessarily easy to parse, the odd binaries of the track titles hinting at complex, unsquareable emotions, the nuance and ambiguity of which only adding to the intrigue. The silence may be irritatingly loud, the stillness a gift, but the noise continues to be the kind of blessing we ought to be counting.
