LA-WOE006
10" | edition of 30
Writing about his The Other Dead Sea LP earlier this year, I asserted the somewhat magnified notion of Jon Collin as religious experience, a proclamation I remain happy to stand by even as the slightly more even-handed edge further away from this slobbering sycophant. Still, I've been right before and I could well be right again, and the doubtful among you might now want to take a moment to reassess. The two tracks that comprise LA-WOE006 really double-down on the prospect, rapturous, elemental instrumentals that radiate a forceful, spectral magick. Some will call this drone, and others will align with certain aspects of post-rock, but what I hear is a form of folk expressionism that, although wordless, speaks an eternal truth, the kind that you feel in your chest and that Collin has been whispering with increasing volume for an age now. There's few things quite so powerful.
