7"
More subcultural esoterica from the ever-inquisitive Purge, this time putting to vinyl two songs produced by Jean-Pierre Bedoyan for William E. Jones' two films of the same name from 1997 and '98. Bedoyan had previously scored another Jones film, though given the recondite nature of the subject matter, probably didn't expect this music to see the light of day beyond its original context. Its exists now as a 7" to coincide with a contemporary screening of the film, a nice promotional angle that also gives the music it dues - these are sprightly 90s inspired miniatures, one part acid house era Coil, one part trip hop melodrama on the A and something a little more liquid DnB on the flip. I'd happily take a full album of this, but as it is I'll simply be grateful for the gift of two songs I'm almost 100% certain i'd never have heard otherwise. Edition of 100.
