Geier aus Stahl, the alias of Austrian born multi-disciplinary Leonard Prochazka, debuts for Knekelhuis with the kind of off-centre DIY electronics we've come to associate with the Dutch label. Strapazen und Genesung translates as 'hardship and recovery', of which a sense of the former seems to be expressed more than the latter through Prochaazka's channeling of those very European traditions of austere industrial aesthetics and dystopian minimal wave. Prochazka's dulcet tones are particularly well suited for music of this nature, and particularly so in the harsh dialect of German, starkly ushering in the end of the world, or the night, or both. Anyone with fond recollections of Wierd would do well to check in here - dry ice, latex, all loss of hope (until same time next week). You know the kind of thing, and if you don't Geier aus Stahl isn't a terrible place to start getting acquainted. See you at the end of the world if we've not already missed it.
