This Gaia Tones gear is unabated. 12" number 6 arrives at the same time as a cassette of various deep/off-cuts and experiments that together total near-to 70 minutes of music from the GT outerzone. The two tracks on the 12" alone would be enough, each a 13 min+ exploration of dub-centred, poly-rhythmic spiritualism that few out there are approaching better right now. 808 is an on-brand zoner marked by particularly skittish percussion, but it's the A side Deep that is especially strident, an ever-winding beast that might spiral on outwards forever if only we'd let it, yet still feels strangely minimalist, no excess, just pure mystical drive. Even in this subtly evolving world of Gaia Tones, this could be new ground. If that doesn't quite satisfy the desire, then you've Unreleased Tapes to delve into, space for GT to explore a few whims and off-centre tangents, bringing to the fore (acid) house and hip hop stylings not necessarily present on previous outings. Loads to explore as ever, and both releases evidence of the widening of an increasingly enthralling universe. LP soon, maybe? It'll be a beast if so.
