Sweet komische escapism from Skire label boss Tom Scott, recorded in the period directly after the release of their collaborative record with Svitlana Nianio in 2023. Entirely instrumental and driven by Scott's undulating, dolorous guitar playing, with occasional accompaniment from organ and violin, the focus here is on transcendent kraut-y repetition, caught somewhere between Ash Ra, Popol Vuh, Roy Montgomery and Jon Collin-esque drone-ambience. This is uniformly beautiful and accomplished stuff, ethereal and vaporous without ever slipping into pastiche or the dreaded tastefulness of Lifestyle Ambient. Scott gets the tone just right here, finding the ideal meditative setting hidden in the loop pedal continuum. Real bliss.
