DJ Plead - Relentless Trills

Clear the Discogs cart and your conscience, one of 2021's finest is finally back in print. Arguably more essential now than we realised on initial release, and one i've returned to consistently over the past year or so. Otherwise known as Jarred Beeler, Plead's Relentless Trills was made at his home in Sydney and is said to take partial inspiration from CS + Kreme's 2020 opus, Snoopy, though it's not an entirely clear influence aside from beatless closer, RT6. Throughout the rest of the set there's a few flashes of the smoky midnight psychoactive dub of Snoopy, but it's married to a more extroverted palette overall, equal parts dancehall and ghettotech referencing - think some kind of snake-charmed version of DJ Godfather, Township Funk and DJ/Rupture. A highly percussive and rhythmic affair that's subtly genre-busting as much as it's immediately likeable. About as ready for the dance as anything i've heard in a good while, and just as surprising for it given the conditions of its creation. And i gotta say, that title is about as on the money as they come.
