We've got a wild one here. Originally released as a three-track 7" back in '81, Black Truffle have unearthed an entire album of head-spinning art rock experimentation that, honestly, i don't think anyone was expecting. Given Berhrman's involvement and the ensemble cast, the closet point of comparison is likely Blue Gene Tyranny, but this is a good way removed from their Grand Ole Opry rock anti-formalism/de-construction. She's More Wild... is a semi-theatrical foray into spacey electronics and subversive performance, coming on like some unholy hybrid of Art & Language, the 80s downtown LA avant garde, and Luc Ferrari sound design. There's the fingerprints of Robert Ashley's cerebral electronic experimentalism scattered throughout, too. A shamelessly avant garde statement, something you rarely, if ever, hear these days. Another one of those records to put in the 'if you're bored with everything else' category. And sometimes it feels good to bend your head a different way.
