Label: Meat Machine
Genre: Canadian Post-Punk
A compilation of the first two EPs from the seemingly billiion-piece (currently: seven) Canadian collective. The story goes that various addiction issues and personal traumas provided the basis for their forming, and to some degree that's reflected in a kind of agitated, high tension collection of taut and wiry post-punk more British than North American. Not so much songs, but a series of vague manifestos that see Crack Cloud rage against abstract unjust systems of control in a mildly Foucauldian manner (The Body seems to be a central topic). More so, it feels sharply iconoclastic, possessed of a commanding sense of self that is instantly compelling and strangely erotic. Not much sexier than those who truly know themselves.
