Dead stock copies of the deluxe 2008 boxset detailing the final Coil studio recordings to be released before the death of Sleazy. Not that they were ever light work, but these are particularly haunting transmissions even for Coil, the last communiques from Jhonn Balance pieced together by the partner that he left behind, and covering musical terrain that uniquely spreads itself across industrial, ambient, chamber song, drone, debased dance music and European folk song. Work on The Ape of Naples started as far back as 1993, with help from Trent Reznor no less, and is broadly elegiac in tone, whilst The New Backwards was Sleazy returning to something outwardly visceral and abrasive, a coming of full circle almost, back to the start but with the baggage of all that heavy life attached. An expectedly intense last stand from an unrelenting band, brilliantly packaged with no creative compromise, appropriately enough. Note that this is the four disc black vinyl version, long since sold out. No need to pay the flipper's tax on Discogs now.
