Rotten Apple #4 & #5 just in to remind us that the Mid West wont ever quit. In case you missed the news, RA is an initiative helmed by the same fella who brought us the egg-raid art-riot institution that was Lumpy Records. Even if the doors are now closed on that weirdo outpost, Rotten Apple shows he's still manning the same lighthouse for the weirdos of Nowheresville USA. Whether they're being guided on or away from the rocks i couldn't say for sure, but nonetheless... These two tapes come from different ends of the freakzone spectrum. CML come in hard, heavy and het-up, five over-before-you-know-it ragers that channel both Die Kreuzen and Jerry's Kids with a freshness that feels sharp enough for right now. Soup Activists dial in from somewhere else entirely, likely a parent's basement they've not left since 2017. Real deal 4-track lo-fi odd-pop that's got a fair few dollops of Flying Nun, Elephant 6 and The Unicorns in its DNA. Would be pop contenders if the world weren't so boring and cruel. Another two success stories for the burgeoning Rotten Apple empire.
