2025 Repress
This one's aged well. Palmbomen II's lo-fi framed, alt-pop alter-ego Cindy confusingly first arrived at almost exactly the same time our much beloved San Fran group of the same name emerged, though they share little more than a name. I'm Cindy is lo-fi in a different way, drawing on sing-song minimal wave pop instincts and ebullient synth exercises that state more than a little affinity with early-doors Italians Do It Better (think those early MySpace demo uploads by Glass Candy). Five years on from initial release, and with Discogs prices now through the roof, it sounds newly fresh and relevant, not quite futurist enough to align with the poptimism of current Scandi underground pop but undeniably lovelorn and sprightly in equally compelling fashion. Well worth the revisit and adding another Cindy to your life.
