Colour Vinyl
True inner space/outerzone ambient drift from Manchester pair Celestial on this second record for Ecstatic, which might share a title with a Fall song but imagines a very different version of the Great North West. Infinite horizon, dreamstate bliss that, because of locale, I'd first framed as Vini Reilly via Berlin School electronics, but really more accurately equates to - "Manuel Gottsching", but a touch more morose. Funny, also, that this should be released the same week as the new Kevin McCormick LP, sharing as it does a similar interest in vaporous expanse (and a hometown, no less). Big Nothing sound, right there above the clouds where you could touch the dome of the Earth/hand of god (the choice of which depending on your proclivities). Lovely feature, too, with label pals Romance, which channels a bit of that much missed Emeralds-esque in(ner)terstellar overdrive cosmic drone and swirl. Expertly done!
