More rot from Rotterdam with this one-sided 12" demo outing of weirdo/outsider pop on Bergpolder from the Dutch-expat, Jan Tromp aka Burger Service. The great European tradition of minimal synth music is alive and well here, melding the eccentric whims of the Top Tape stable, Rotterdam royalty Geluidshouweri & How To Get Rich In Rotterdam, with something akin to what Victor De Roo is doing with De Nooit Moede and his Kontakt imprint, and, strangely a Mid-West lo-fi/egg punk instinct that feels positively Lumpy. And since it's on Bergpolder/Lewsberg-adjacent, there's a singular odd-pop spirit at work, too, expressed in cheap drum-machines, devilishly simple keyboard melodies, pound-shop mic vocals, lo-fi guitars and, of course, just doing whatever you feel cos what else is to be done. It's called Burger Service for good reason. More good news from the blessed margins.
