Heavy duty tome uniting the margins of the great New Zealand underground put together by Noel Meek, and featuring his writing alongside that of Bruce Russell, Nick Cain and, of course Bananafish magnate, Seymour Glass. All the superstar names are included here - the Dead C and their numerous side arms, all of the players from the Garbage and the Flowers orbit, Galbraith and Direen, and not least, some always appreciated light (though not too much) shone on the World Resources camp. The amount of outsider activity from this part of the world has long been at the forefront of our mind and many of these names are more well known now than they've likely ever been at any other point during their existence. What is equally compelling to learn is just how keen other key players, from both home and abroad, were in documenting and making sense of this unique creative energy. Compelling, inspiring and emboldening stories. It probably wasn't easy, it most likely wasn't cheap, but you should still go and do it. And in the absence of the possibility of obtaining any of the numerous lathes discussed here, this is your next best thing. I don't read anywhere near enough to declare anything Book of the Year, but i'm certainly very happy this exists. Get it now before IDEA books gets its hands on it.
