Anthony Naples + DJ Python - Air Texture VIII

Eighth installment in the Air Texture comp series is helmed by NYC denizens & pals, Anthony Naples and DJ Python, scanning like a tac sharp scene report and a one-stop shop for what's 'hot' in electronic music right now. And hot is exactly what this 18 track collection is - i mean, like actually thermostat-up, the sweat-descends human waterfall style. There's often a heatsick feel to DJ Python's own music - it's that reggaeton influence - and along with Naples, he's drawn out that same instinct from many of these contributors, as well as providing two cuts themselves. Of the opening six tracks (which takes in Parris, Waon P, and Naples and Python, too), it's only really DINA's hardcore assault that breaks the flow. As a whole it channels that NYC-summer-at-3AM experience when the air still hits so thick you can climb it like a ladder. The Real Feel. There's some very WOE-friendly names here - the aforementioned Parris and Waon P, and also DJ Trystero, Huerco S, James Bangura, Meitei - and a few other assorted revelations, namely downstairs j's dubwise minimalism, and the similarly minded Bitter Babe & Nick Leon collab. But the main result here is having it all work as one, the redirection of a shared sensibility or cultivation of a hive mind into a single, sweat-drenched organism.
