This first time vinyl edition of 2004's Barcyz helps right that wrong, an ecoloigcally-centric, mod-prog suite that draws on a strangely psychedelic arrangement of jazz, folk, post-industrial and field recordings that conjures visions of a wide range of outliers, such as Svitlana Nianio, Sandoz Lab Technicians, Fursaxa, and the ethnomusicological tradition of sampling the sounds of wildlide (think Felix Hess, Folkways Sounds Of series...). Shall we call it eco-concreté? That gets us halfway towards an understanding (and is certainly accruate to a degree, since 35 different animal species are featured across the record), though overall I think we're probably a little closer to the 'freak folk' sensibilities of the early 2000s (which coincides perfectly with the initial release date of Barcyz) and that vaguely cosmic idea of exploring the magical allure of the natural world. You don't need to travel too much further down that line of thinking before you reach 'New Age', but Nacher \u0026amp; Styczyński are seasoned enough sonic adventurers to know how to separate the psychedelic from the hippy.
