Another thrilling transmission of DIY expressionism from the dark corners of the Aussie underground. The solo project of Ivan Matthew Hicks, you might have first encountered Amateur Childbirth via the release of their Your Afterlife is Cancelled album on Blackest Ever Black in 2017, an under-the-radar slice of lo-fi black magic folk with a rather prickly underbelly. Beware the same kinda darkness here. Hicks delivers two witching hour gems of Country Teasers style provocation touched with a little unexpected TVP gentility. Which i'd speculate makes Amateur Childbirth some botched job bastard offspring of the Go Betweens. My favourite kind of job. Edition of 100. Same label as the Maxine Funke & P Wits 7", so don't expect these to hang around (and rightly so!)
